The role of the Mayor has been established as part of devolution agreements between Cambridgeshire, the City of Peterborough and government with the Mayor having powers that cover transport, business support, employment and skills support, spatial planning, housing investment and governance reforms.
If you are interested in standing as a candidate in the 6 May 2021 Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Mayoral election, this section of the website provides information on how to do so.
There are specific legal qualifications and disqualifications which you must meet if you wish to stand.
Firstly to qualify as a candidate you need to be aged 18 or over and a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen.
The legislation covering disqualifications for the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Mayoral election has not yet been passed and further information will be provided once available.
To stand validly nominated on 6 May 2021, by no later than 4pm on Thursday 8 April, the Combined Area Returning Officer must be in receipt of the following:

A nomination paper with 12 signatures and elector number

Candidate Consent to Nomination

Request for a party emblem (party candidates only)

Certificate of authorisation (party candidates only)

£5000 deposit (cash, bankers draft, debit card or BACS payment - contact elections@eastcambs.gov.uk for BACS details)
