On Thursday 6 May 2021 there will be an election in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough for a Combined Authority Mayor.
The nomination period for this election runs from Tuesday 30 March 2021 and nomination papers can be submitted between 10am and 4pm on any working day between this date and the nomination deadline which is 4pm on Tuesday 8 April 2021. The Combined Authority Returning Officer (CARO) is not able to accept nomination papers delivered outside of these times. Contact the Office of the CARO to arrange an appointment to check and submit your nomination papers.
Candidates must submit the following as part of their nomination:
- A completed nomination form
- 12 signatures (2 from each local authority area) of people on the electoral register
- A signed and witnessed consent to nomination form
- A deposit of £5000, which is returned if the candidate receives more than five percent of first choice votes cast in the election for Mayor
- A certificate from the registered political party’s nominating officer, where the candidate is not an independent
- A signed request to use a registered political party’s emblem on the ballot paper if the candidate wishes to use an emblem.

Candidates can have an address published in the candidate address booklet, which is sent to all registered voters in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough before polling day. In order to have their election address included, candidates must make a contribution of £500 toward the cost of producing the booklet.
Candidates are entitled to a free copy of the electoral register and absent voter lists for each of the constituent authorities in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. The request must be made in writing to the CARO, forms for which are available as part of the nomination pack for candidates.
